✍🏼 Song Inspiration ✍🏼

Below are a couple of quotes from the Baha’i Writings that inspired this song:

“Soon will the present day Order be rolled up, and a new one spread out in its stead.”

“The betterment of the world can be accomplished through pure and goodly deeds and through commendable and seemly conduct.”

📖 The Story 📖

If you have listened to even a sampling of my music, it should be quite clear that affecting transformation is one of the primary goals and focuses of the lyrics. From my very first song (“Change The World”), this aim has been consistent throughout my musical projects. With that said, it’s clearly taken different styles, sounds, and flows over my catalogue of music.

One day, I was creating a playlist, and accompanying blog post, to feature my song “What If”. I wanted to curate a playlist of songs that lyrically focused on asking questions. Through my research, I came upon a song called “Choices” by legendary Bay-area rapper, E-40. In the song, E-40 goes back and forth saying “nope!” and “yep!”, with the rap lyrics corresponding to the nopes and yeps. I thought it was an incredibly creative lyric format, and took note of it as inspiration.

As I often do, I then thought to myself, how could I create a song similar to this, but one that is about creating a better world. In the Baha’i Writings, there is much emphasis on the fact that Baha’is are tasked with applying the Teachings of Bahá’u’lláh to society and transforming the hearts, institutions, and structures of the world to reflect the virtues of justice, unity, love, service, among many other spiritual qualities.

So I took this concept and ran with it! I then looked up “E-40 style beats” on YouTube in order to pay homage to the original song, and quickly came across the one you hear in the song – and I was hooked and the inspiration flowed from there!

ALSOOOO, I’m really hoping to get a “New World” remix created with some of the amazingly talented rappers I know. A couple rappers that I’m huge fans of (Karim Rushdy and Peyt Spencer) have sent me sample verses that could go onto a remix, which I created a super rough audio mix with (listen below). • Richard Jeffers says:

New World is my favorite song because of the “call and response”, beat and creative video. It is easy to share with others from all backgrounds. Prosperity for All-Need it, Poverty-Leave it. God and Mother Earth have given us sufficient resources, we just need to be more equitable in their distribution.

    • So happy to hear the song has brought so much inspiration! 100% agree on your assessment on the need for the distribution of resources to be greatly adjusted in order to help all of humanity to prosper! NEED IT!
