✍🏼 Song Inspiration ✍🏼

Below are a couple of quotes from the Baha’i Writings that inspired this song:

“Noble have I created thee, yet thou hast abased thyself. Rise then unto that for which thou wast created.”

“Noble I made thee, wherewith dost thou abase thyself? Out of the essence of knowledge I gave thee being, why seekest thou enlightenment from anyone beside Me? Out of the clay of love I molded thee, how dost thou busy thyself with another? Turn thy sight unto thyself, that thou mayest find Me standing within thee, mighty, powerful and self-subsisting.”

✍🏼 The Lyrics ✍🏼

[Intro]
Noble have I created Thee,
Noble I made thee,

[Verse 1]
I’m in awe when I look at you,
This love is so strong, I’m so drawn to you,
When you cry I just wanna help,
When you smile, I can’t help myself,
But to smile right back,
When I look into your eyes, I see God,
You look back at me, and I see beyond,
The heavens and the earth, your pure soul deeper than the sea,
Oh how I love to squeeze your cheeks,
Kiss you on your head, your nose, and your feet,
Feel peace when I watch you sleep,
The day you came brought a new life, so much light to come,
You brighten up my life, you truly are my son,

[Chorus]
Noble have I created Thee,
Rise then unto that for which thou wast created,
Noble I made thee,
Out of the essence of knowledge I gave thee being,
Out of the clay of love I molded thee,
Turn thy sight unto thyself,
Find Me standing within thee,
Mighty, powerful and self-subsisting.
Mighty, powerful and self-subsisting.

[Verse 2]
When you arrived, you landed in my arms,
I gave you straight to mom, so you would feel no harm,
The most beautiful thing that I’ve ever seen,
This is my family, nothing will come between,
You’re so precious,
My love for you is endless,
Saw you take your first breath,
Your first laugh,
Changed your first diaper,
Gave you your first bath,
Watched you roll over,
You keep growing older,
Helped you stand up,
As the time goes on, I hope I help you man up,
To be strong,
Most importantly is my responsibility
To help you recognize that God made you with nobility

[Chorus]
Noble have I created Thee,
Rise then unto that for which thou wast created,
Noble I made thee,
Out of the essence of knowledge I gave thee being,
Out of the clay of love I molded thee,
Turn thy sight unto thyself,
Find Me standing within thee,
Mighty, powerful and self-subsisting.
Mighty, powerful and self-subsisting.

[Verse 3]
When I’m feeling down, one look at you,
And I’m feeling back up
God gave to you
The power of warming up my cold heart,
My little work of art,
What can I say, I love you,
I know I’ll make mistakes
I know I’ll let you down,
But for you, I want to be a better man,
Know I can’t do it by myself,
But with God’s help I know I can,
You were created noble, live up to your namesake,
If you can’t do it for me, do it for God’s sake,
Cuz for this life, you’re in my possession,
But your true Father’s up in heaven, don’t forget Him,

[Chorus]
Noble have I created Thee,
Rise then unto that for which thou wast created,
Noble I made thee,
Out of the essence of knowledge I gave thee being,
Out of the clay of love I molded thee,
Turn thy sight unto thyself,
Find Me standing within thee,
Mighty, powerful and self-subsisting.
Mighty, powerful and self-subsisting.

📖 The Story 📖

This is a very special song on this album! For one, it’s the feature track, sharing the same title as the album itself. And more importantly, it’s my love song to Noble! 💛

As you no doubt know, my primary talent is in rapping and song writing. Singing and melody is not something that comes as naturally to me, and I’m not nearly as confident in this art form. However, being a father to a new born baby really brought the little singing talent I have out of me! 👶🏼

When Noble was small, I would often sing to him to try and calm him or simply to engage him. Additionally, as a new parent, I found that writing lyrics was quite difficult for me to focus on while simultaneously caring for a newborn. However, reading Baha’i Writings and putting them to melodies was something I could do quite naturally while I was caring for Noble. So this multi-task was something I began doing quite often when Noble was young!

At first, I put a lot of the Baha’i prayers for infants and children to music and would sing them to Noble. This naturally transitioned into creating a love song for Noble to be included on the album! Thanks to the masterful audio-engineering work of BeatzbyLeksai, my melodies ended up sounding not half bad! A little autotune goes a long way! 🎵

🎁 Bonus Content 🎁

As I shared above, singing and creating melodies is something I’ve done a lot more now that I am a father of young children. Below is a recording of one of the first Baha’i prayers I set to music:

“O Thou peerless Lord! Let this suckling babe be nursed from the breast of Thy loving-kindness, guard it within the cradle of Thy safety and protection and grant that it be reared in the arms of Thy tender affection.” ‘Abdu’l-Bahá

🤔 Noble Reflection & Discussion 💬

👑 ➡️ Are you a parent? How has being a parent made you more a more noble human being? If you’re not a parent, how have your parents made you a more noble human being?

    Dear Colby,
Great job on the song above! One addition I would make would be to say the words “God says“ just before the chorus.
You’re doing a great job! I love this format! Blessings to your family!

    • So happy to hear you’re enjoying the format! 🙂 Thank you for your feedback! This was an interesting scripture to use to create a song, considering the circumstances.

I think what’s cool about the lyrics taken from the Baha’i Writings is that, I also as Noble’s earthly father strive to embody that same message that is given to all of humanity from our Heavenly Father.

I also helped “create” my son Noble in the earthly sense. I am striving to do my absolute best to “mold” Noble’s character out of love. I also hope to be a positive example and role model in Noble’s life that he can take inspiration from me in his own life (God Willing).

But to your point, of course, yes the true purpose is to turn Noble (and all listening) to the point that God is the true Creator of all and He created us all as noble beings! So your point is well taken!

Thanks again for sharing! I look forward to hearing your thoughts on the rest of the album! 😊🙏🏽💙
